Mortgage Quote

There are a few factors that will determine the type of mortgage that you are approved for, so before you get a mortgage quote from a lender, you may want to do a few things to improve your qualifications. Here are some ways to make sure that you get the mortgage that you want.

First, you'll want to request a copy of your credit report. You are entitled to receive a free report each year from any of the three credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax), but if you have already received your free report for the year, an additional one is usually not more than $15. Take a good look at your report, and make sure that it is accurate. If there are charges or inquiries on your report that have already been paid off, you'll need to make sure that you contact the creditors so that you can resolve the debt quickly. If there are several items on your report that you still owe on, it may be time to contact your debtors and make payment arrangements so that you can boost your credit score. The higher your credit score, the easier it will be for you to find a mortgage quote with a lower interest rate and lower monthly payments.

Next, you'll want to look at the interest rate of the mortgage home loan. In some cases, you will only see the total amount of the loan, and companies may not factor in the interest rate right away. Even though you may see the percentage of the interest rate when you are searching for a mortgage quote online, you will need to use the mortgage calculator that you will find on sites like www.eloan.com or www.lendingtree.com to determine how much your mortgage payments will be each month with the interest rate included.

There are also other fees that are associated with a mortgage that you may not see in your mortgage quote. For instance, you may have to pay an appraisal fee if you are buying a home that is older and want to know how much the home is actually worth, so that you will know whether or not you're saving money. Or, you may want to factor in closing fees, which is usually what you will pay after the mortgage process has been completed. So, be sure that you have much more than the amount of the actual mortgage before it is time to close the deal, and be sure that your income allows you to be making at least triple the monthly payments, so that you won't fall behind when you're paying your mortgage.
